Cozy Monsoon Season- Cuddle weather tips for single peeps.

The laundry isn’t done, the dishes are piled up, the trash is filled to the brim and the bed hasn’t been made, but I’m cuddled on the couch with a warm cup of joe, with not one ounce of worry on my mind. Cozy monsoon (aka cuddle weather) season is upon us and I couldn’t be more excited! If you’re in a relationship, then you know this is one of the best seasons yet! Bundling up in blankets while listening to the rain is the absolute best! But being single during this season can be really depressing.. trust me i know from experience. But i have a few tips for you single peeps out there that might help you stay a bit positive.

1- Throw on your pajamas and get comfy! Throw your hair up in a bun or braids, find your coziest socks and relax. Let go of the stresses from today and tomorrow, and enjoy yourself for the night.

2- Bundle up! Wrapping yourself in blankets makes you warm and cozy.. and kinda feels like cuddling.

3- Turn your phone on airplane mode and drown out the sounds of everyone else… Focus on the sound of the rain and relaxing to keep your mind from racing.

4- Prepare your favorite drink. Whether it be hot chocolate, coffee, wine, tea, whisky  whatever.. pick your poison and enjoy yourself.

5- 3 words. Bridget Jones Diary. Or any sappy love movie, really. I’m a hopeless romantic and these movies made me feel 100x better about being single. But all jokes aside, Bridget Jones Diary is seriously the best!

Monsoon season isn’t only for the taken, it’s for everyone to enjoy ❤ Bundle up and relax, watch a good movie, and enjoy the sounds of the crazy monsoon season.

 

How to start each day with a smile

Nowadays, there are so many things to distract us from enjoying each day. We have this idea that we have to vacation somewhere  or do something out of the ordinary and plan every detail to make a “special” day perfect. Most of the time that makes everything pretty stressful. Whether we’re vacationing in the Bahamas or living our everyday routine, there are a few different steps we can take to make each day enjoyable.

The first thing you should do is wake up with a smile. You can even set a reminder on your phone to take a few deep breaths and smile. It’s a proven fact that smiling releases endorphins in your body that instantly lifts your mood and relieves stress.

The next thing you should do is play your favorite music, preferably uplifting. The great thing about this step is that you can get a lot of things done while listening to your music. So pick a great album and smile.

The next step, and probably most important step in this process, is make a great cup of coffee. Coffee is that warm best friend that motivates you to be a more productive person. If consumed the right amounts, coffee can help you accomplish any goals you set yourself for that day. So drink your coffee, pick a great album, and smile.

Lastly, take a look at your surroundings, and absorb every detail. Learning to appreciate the little things in life will not only make for a better day, but a better life. Appreciate how the lighting in the room makes everything glow, appreciate how the hot coffee goes down your throat and gives the slightest goosebumps to your arms, appreciate the sounds of kids laughing and walking to school, etc.

But most importantly, appreciate the steady thump of your heartbeat and the slightly faster heartbeat of your loved one next to you because life is evanescent. So drink your coffee, pick a great album, smile, and appreciate your life.

5 ways to enjoy an outdoor adventure!

It’s a Saturday morning. You woke up pretty early for some reason, and you have absolutely no plans. You could do the usual and make a hearty breakfast, sit on twitter and watch Netflix all day… But why would you do that when you have something way more exciting right outside your door? I’m lucky to live in a town where some of the greatest adventures are basically in my backyard. Reno itself is beautiful, and next to Tahoe… I couldn’t have it better! But honestly, I’ve lived in so many beautiful places and its easy to take things for granted when you see them every day. Sleep can sound amazing, but do yourself a favor, and don’t live the same day twice.

1- Prepare for the day by eating a decent meal and drinking lots of water! Water is obviously an essential when exercising, but food is equally as important. You’ll need the energy to enjoy yourself and everything you’re doing. You could also start the day with a nice cup of Joe because honestly, who starts the day without coffee?

2- Get yourself out of your pajamas and go outside! Truckee and Tahoe are my favorite places to go on weekends because there is so much to do outdoors. Donner lake, Lake Tahoe and so many other surroundings make this my favorite weekend destination. But if you don’t live next to a lake, go for a random hike in the mountains, ride your bike around town, just do something to get yourself moving and breathing fresh air.

3- Friends are important to have while out on these adventures, not only for safety reasons, but it’s nice to live in the moment with people you love. Find some friends that are just as down for an adventure as you are and enjoy each others company.

4- Take as many cool pictures as possible! I looove being able to look at old pictures and relive the awesome adventures I’ve had. It’s a way to express yourself and the moments you were in.

5- Take a deep breath and appreciate where you are and what you’re doing. The absolute worst thing you could do while adventuring is worrying about what could happen, or trying to plan what comes next. Just go with the flow and enjoy yourself!

 

My favorite breakfast bowl

Mmm. Breakfast really is the most important meal of the day and there is a reason why i have this breakfast bowl every morning. Not only is it so delicious, but it’s healthy! This bowl gets my metabolism going and helps me stay thin.

Kashi go lean cereal- Includes honey, almonds, and flax seeds. You can find this at your local grocery store in the natural foods section.

Raspberries, Blueberries, Blackberries- Antioxidants galore! These berries are amazing for your heart and immune system. They’re also great for boosting energy and clearing your skin.

Banana- A healthy carb that keeps you feeling full throughout the morning.

Unsweetened Almond milk- Only 30 calories and is amazing if you’re trying to lose weight or stay thin.

Why I started drinking black coffee.

Alright, I can’t be the only one that feels awful after drinking a Starbucks Frappe, or even a White Chocolate Mocha. Not only does it make me feel shitty, but i feel guilty after drinking it because i can feel all of the sugar and cream instantly affecting my body.

So I stopped buying frappe’s and started adding just vanilla creamer to my coffee, and with what started out as a dunk of cream, eventually turned into a teaspoon. The day we ran out of creamer, I was feeling daring. Was i really about to drink black coffee? Was I losing my mind?

So, like Mary Poppins once taught me, I scooped a (half) spoon full of sugar to make the coffee go down and… it wasn’t so bad! I was surprised! I felt like I finally reached adulthood. I honestly felt so much better too and i wondered what exactly changed. I mean aside from drinking way less sugar and cream, i felt even better than i did when i didn’t drink coffee. So, i googled it.

There is a reason I felt so much better, and that’s because black coffee is actually really good for you! Here’s some healthy facts about coffee:

5- Skip the sugar highs and crashes
